What does it take to create good graphic design?
~ Understanding the elements and the principles of design. Not just knowing how to use a computer.

What is the difference between elements and principles?
~Elements are parts of visual deign that can be isolated while principles tell how elements are organized

Name the six (6) elements of design.
~ Line
~ Shape/Form
~ Space
~ Texture
~ Value
~ Color

What can lines aid in, when alone or combined with  other lines or shapes?
~ Readability, appearance, and message the design communicates

Which lines suggest a feeling of rest? Why do you think? 
~ Horizontal; they are flat across therefore your eyes do not move throughout the page.

Vertical lines communicate a feeling of what? Why do you think?
~ Loftiness

What lines suggest a feeling of movement? Why do you think?
~ Diagonal lines

Soft, shallow curved lines suggest what? Why do you think?
~ Comfort

These lines suggest confusion and turbulence? Why do you think?
~ Deep acute curves

What element defines a specific area of space?
~ Shape

What is the difference between two dimensional shapes and three dimensional shapes?
~ Two Dimensional: has width and height
~ Three Dimensional: has depth as well as width and height

Describe the difference between geometric shapes and organic shapes?
~ Geometric shapes are a structured symmetrical shape while organic shapes are found in nature or man made shapes

What are abstract shapes?
~ Stylized/simplified versions of natural shapes

Which basic shape projects an attitude of honesty or equality?
~ Square

What do triangles suggest?
~Action/Stability

Circles convey feelings of what?
~ Protection

Describe positive space and negative space?
~Positive: refers to the object or elements used in a design
~ Negative: refers to the shapes arounds or inbetween the elements

What is texture?
~ The actual surfice of a design with the reader actually being able to feel the texture of the paper and materials used. The physical feeling.

Incorporating texture into a design can help do what?
~ Help to create richness and depth

What is value?
~ The degree in light and dark in a design, and gives objects depth

What is another name for value?
~ Tone

What can the element of color do when incorporated into a design?
~ Create images and convade moods
